The Office of Student Aid - Pennsylvania State University | SRA | ICS | I work full time as a Systems Administrator in the Office of Student Aid at Penn State University Park. My daily tasks include keeping the Office of Student Aid Windows servers, Linux servers, and server applications running, updated, and compliant with the department, University, and Federal guidelines and security standards. These include the Penn State AD95 policy and the Gramm-Leach-Biley Act. Additionally, I monitor the Penn State unit security dashboard, Splunk, Nessus, and Microsoft Defender ATP for server vulnerabilities, malicious software, and PII. Many of the servers that I maintain in the Office of Student Aid are within a secure enclave environment with an Authority to Operate. Therefore, audit and risk assessment tasks are required at times. I also fill in for and assist the IT Support specialist with workstation and user support tasks when needed. Assessing, securing, and protecting Student Aid Information relates significantly to Security and Risk Analysis. My position is a full-time standing position, and I work 40 hours or more a week, depending on the circumstances. I should work around 600 hours this semester (Spring 2022). |

This is an Air National Guard (ANG) Dual Status Technician position requiring military membership, compatible military skill assignment, and classification. The primary purpose of the position is to provide highly technical expertise to a wide variety of customers to ensure enterprise-level IT solutions are developed and implemented in line with customers’ strategic goals. This position requires knowledge and conceptual understanding of existing and theoretical enterprise architectures with the expertise and highly developed communication skills to bridge the gap of understanding when communicating technical solutions to customers at various levels of leadership. Specific responsibilities include translating customer requests for capabilities into IT requirements, conceptual planning, integrating technology sources Government Off The Shelf, Commercial Off The Shelf (GOTS/COTS) into high performing, fully integrated IT enterprise solutions. 1. Provides IT engineering and installation services to DoD, MAJCOM, NGB and base level customers. Performs IT architectural design and engineering work for complete IT systems, downward directed programs/systems, Internet Protocol (IP)-based systems and circuits, one-of-a-kind systems, routine upgrades, and system enhancements. Analyzes capabilities and performance, identifies problems, and directs corrective actions to provide seamless integration, proper configuration, operation, defense, restoration, and improvements. Deploys, sustains, troubleshoots and repairs standard voice, data and video network infrastructure systems, IP detection systems and cryptographic equipment.
