| United States Marine Corps | SRA | IAM | This summer I will be attending a 6-week summer internship for the United States Marine Corps called Officer Candidate. During this internship, I will be constantly screened and evaluated on my leadership, academics, and physical fitness in hopes of earning a commission as a Marine Corps Officer. During Officer Candidate School (OCS) I will receive numerous classes and opportunities to apply what I learned to the training and field exercises at OCS. In one of these exercises I will receive intelligence reports that I will have to analyze and organize into an order. From there I will then have to lead my peers through the exercise based on my order. This part of OCS evaluates my ability to analyze and organize information as well as my leadership ability. During this experience I will also have to ensure security is maintained for my unit and plan how to defeat enemies defense in order to ensure the success of my mission. This internship and training will continue into the fall when I am back at school but will be come part time with training occurring 3-4 times a week. During this time, I will be expanding on the skills learned at OCS and teaching others the skills I have learned. |
