Telus Digital | Rater/Quality Analyst | HCDD | -Analyzing and Assessing Content: In this job I am often given something like an AI output or response, and I have to fact check it for accuracy and rate several aspects of how good the response is in areas like the usefulness to the user's query, the quality of any sources it gives, and the overall tone, format, and presentation of the output. I often have to give descriptive quantifiable data (Likert scale ratings) and qualitative data (How did I fact check, why I think a user would feel some type of way about something I pointed out). We also do A/B testing, result ranking, and usability walkthroughs for different types of media (Ads, images, articles) as well. I've done some form of most of these other things in my time in HCDD. -Usability Testing: This job really centers on ensuring good user experience, just like HCDD. One of the biggest things we measure at Telus is how does a given output satisfy or dissatisfy an input or desire from a user. We must take into account things like user location, tonal context, generality of input, and personal relevance in making sure they receive the highest quality output. -Use of Various Technology: On top of AI or search engine algorithm results, I often have to check websites and see how they perform and/or if they are trustworthy according to extensive E-E-A-T (Experience, Expertise, Authoritativeness, and Trustworthiness) training. I use both my computer and my phone to judge both mobile and desktop versions to ensure both are well maintained. The job in general is mostly done on a computer. I get exposed to multiple websites and learn what makes these sites usable, high quality, and trustworthy. I even apply these things to my own personal sites and school projects. -SEO and AI exposure: My work goes into making SEO algorithms and AI better and also gives me good insight into how they work and evolve over time. Testing and iterating based on feedback and user relevance is core to the HCDD major. These (Web Dev, AI) are fields I'm interested into going in post-grad, so this gives me good premature exposure. |
