Talen Energy | CYAOP | Cyber Security at commercial US nuclear plants is regulated by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) Code of Federal Regulations (10CFR74.54). Each operating nuclear plant in the US has a Cyber Security Plan (CSP) which is Yes by the NRC and is licensed condition of operation. The Susquehanna Steam Electric Station (SSES) complies with 10CFR73.54 by adopting the Nuclear Energy Institutes NEI-08-09 Rev 6 and endorsed addendums. NEI-08-09 specifies the types of protections and controls to be applied to the 2800+ Critical Digital Assets (CDAs) which are installed in the plant. These protections and controls provide defense in depth to ensure the capability to detect, delay, respond to, and recover from cyber attacks. In addition to obtaining a basic understanding of the applicable defense in depth measures employed by SSES, I will complete the following project and deliverables. Project – Develop process for cataloging media (software and licensing) and streamline implementation. 1. Develop a process (excel spreadsheet or access database) for cataloging computer media (original software) and licensing files. 2. Perform cataloging of such media currently contained in secure storage. 3. Compare inventory of software to the Master Software List (GLPI) and identify gaps. 4. Work with other SSES Engineering/Computer group personnel to obtain missing software and licensing and add to secure storage. 5. Review NEI 08-09 controls D.1.14 “Automated Labeling” and E-1 “Media control”. 6. Review SSES procedure NSEP-QA-525 “Media Protection”. Recommend enhancements to procedure and streamlining of forms. 7. Review recommended process with other Engineering/Computer group personnel. |
